In the wild province of the Northern Cape exists a cave that is an autobiography of a people. This cave tells the story of the Bushmen, of the Batswana people and of the European settlers in that region. It also speaks of our prehistoric ancestors in the Stone Age. The cave has been a home to many transient people.
There are Archaeologists from international universities digging for stone tools and bits and pieces of broken artefacts, Healers seeking divine connections in a trance invoking the spirit of the ancestors, School Learners keen on deciphering the rock art that is to be found on the walls, nature Lovers looking to connect their souls in untouched territories and curious Travellers trekking through the wonderful province of the Northern Cape.
One of Northern Cape’s memorable historical sites under the stewardship of McGregor Museum
The Wonderwerk Cave offers the most varied and interesting concentration of hiking trails in the Northern Cape.
Wonderwerk Cave boasts absolutely exquisite and picturesque terrains. Whilst modern advancements allow for such scenery to be viewed from the comfort of a 4×4, most prefer to explore this rugged beauty, on foot. Hiking around the phenomenal caves is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
